How to prepare
Short, specific instructions for each scan. Your appointment letter repeats anything that applies to you.
Before your CT
- If contrast is planned, skip food for 4 hours before.
- Wear clothing without zips or metal clasps.
- Mention kidney problems or past reactions to contrast.
Before your X-ray
Nothing to prepare.
- Wear clothing without metal fastenings.
- Tell us if you may be pregnant.
Before your ultrasound
- We confirm any drinking instructions when booking.
- Upper abdominal scans: no food for 6 hours before.
- Take your usual medicines unless we say otherwise.
For referrers
Send the patient, the clinical question and any prior imaging. We arrange the appointment directly with the patient and return the report to you, usually within two working days.
